Unicorns Abound

I am making a quilt for my niece for her big girl bed. She loves Unicorns, normally I would not do a theme quilt for the big girl bed. Mostly because they end up growing out of them and then they end up in a closet folded up instead of being used. Although…….my daughter is on a huge unicorn kick also and had picked out a unicorn fabric she loved. Since it is more realistic and not cartoonish, I caved.

My daughter picked these louder fabrics to go with hers. She loves that rainbow fabric and we found the Tula Pink to go with it. The little birds in the Tula Pink pop right off that fabric with the rainbows right next to it.

Birds in flight block. I really like this block. Isn’t it cute? Unfortunately I did not get very far with this quilt as my Mom fell and broke her hip and it was off we go. My oldest was also in a car accident while I was gone. It has been a rough couple of weeks in our house. We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel again. I think I may be able to find time to get this one done! It will go together quickly because it is large easy blocks and a more modern look. Which the 5 year old approved after I sketched it out.

Here is the first row minus one block. Going to look pretty cute I think!
